A 16-year-old horse named Copper was saved by the Seminole County Fire Department after getting stuck in a marsh off Feather Lane in Sanford. The Large Animal Rescue Team used plywood to assist in extricating the horse, deadlifting him to get him underneath the plywood.
The rescue operation was a collaboration between the Sanford Police Department, Seminole County Fire Department, and Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Fortunately, Copper was only in the marsh for a little over an hour before being successfully rescued.
