Sovereignty Returns to Saratoga for Potential Whitney Stakes Run

Sovereignty, the standout 4-year-old racehorse owned by Godolphin and trained by Bill Mott, has returned to Saratoga Race Course. The horse had an impressive 2025 season, winning major races including the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, Travers Stakes, and Jim Dandy, making Sovereignty the only horse to win all four. After a second-place finish in the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap earlier this year, Sovereignty is expected to compete in the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes at Saratoga on August 8, though the next race has not been officially confirmed.

With a career record of six wins in 10 starts and earnings exceeding $6 million, Sovereignty was favored for the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Classic but had to withdraw due to a fever. The horse’s return to Saratoga marks a significant moment as fans and the racing community anticipate further top-level performances from the 2025 American Horse of the Year.
