Carla Jackson, who was seriously injured in a horse riding accident on the England-Wales border and airlifted to hospital, is raising funds to thank the air ambulance service by undertaking a 62-mile trek in a single day. Having already raised over £2,500 through various endurance challenges, Carla aims to complete the Gower Peninsula 100km Ultra-Marathon to support the County Air Ambulance HELP appeal, marking the 20th anniversary of her rescue. Despite a previous brain injury from another horse riding accident two years ago, she has trained rigorously and is determined to finish this toughest challenge yet.
Carla’s fundraising efforts have included multiple ultra-marathons and long-distance events, motivated by her gratitude for the air ambulance service that made a critical difference in her recovery. The HELP Appeal charity funds helipads at hospitals and air ambulance bases, enabling rapid emergency response. Carla hopes her efforts will help ensure others receive the same life-saving support, emphasizing the importance of remembering why she undertakes these demanding challenges.
