The USEA has introduced a new entry-level division called “Intro,” launching August 1, 2026, designed to offer young and novice riders a low-pressure, accessible introduction to eventing. Unlike the Starter level, Intro allows coaching throughout all three phases—dressage, cross-country, and show jumping—with simplified course requirements such as lower fixed jump heights (0.45m), no complex obstacles like water crossings or combinations, and the option for verbal coaching on course. Riders of any age and horses aged four or older may participate, with USEA membership optional unless pursuing year-end points or championships.
Additionally, the USEA will implement a national Combined Test (CT) Leaderboard starting December 1, 2026, to recognize competitors in combined tests (dressage and show jumping phases only) across all levels. This leaderboard will track results using the existing USEA point system, awarding year-end honors to the top three finishers in each division. Participation requires riders to hold at least a Community Level USEA membership (which is free) and horses to be registered at the Restricted Level or higher, with a $20 post-competition starter fee.
