Godolphin Australia has announced the retirement of elite sprinter Tentyris and Guineas and Derby-winning three-year-old Observer to stand at Darley’s NSW and Victorian stallion operations respectively. Tentyris, a standout son of Street Boss and winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes and Lightning Stakes, will stand at Darley’s Kelvinside with an introductory fee of $88,000. Despite debates about continuing his racing career, Godolphin prioritized his commercial value as a stallion, highlighting his soundness, exceptional speed, and rare achievements as a three-year-old. Meanwhile, Observer, a first-crop son of Ghaiyyath, will stand at Darley’s Northwood Park with a fee of $33,000 after his career was cut short by niggling issues. Observer’s notable wins include the Victoria Derby and Australian Guineas, and he brings a strong pedigree linked to the Dubawi sire line.
Godolphin managing director Andy Makiv emphasized the strength and depth of the Darley Australia stallion roster, which has evolved significantly following the loss of champion sires Lonhro and Exceed And Excel. Both Tentyris and Observer will receive strong early support from the Godolphin broodmare band, adding to a roster Makiv described as one of the best he has seen. The addition of these two high-profile stallions reflects Godolphin’s commitment to maintaining a competitive and commercially viable breeding program across multiple states.
