Flightline Colt Sold for $10.5 Million Arrives at Bob Baffert’s Barn After Record-Breaking Sale

A Flightline colt sold for a record-breaking $10.5 million at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales spring sale of 2-year-olds in training, shattering the previous OBS record of $3 million and marking the second-highest price ever paid for a 2-year-old in North America. Purchased by bloodstock agent Donato Lanni for owner Zedan Racing, the colt arrived at trainer Bob Baffert’s barn at Santa Anita, where Baffert praised his exceptional physical presence and pedigree. The colt is from Flightline’s first crop, whose sire was the undefeated 2022 Horse of the Year, and out of Lucrezia, a stakes-winning daughter of Into Mischief.

Bred in Kentucky by Edward and Beverly Seltzer and W.S. Farish, the colt initially sold as a weanling for $575,000 and impressed at the under-tack show with a blazing furlong time of 9.6 seconds. Flightline, trained by John Sadler during his racing career, now stands at Lane’s End Farm with a stud fee of $125,000. The colt handled his cross-country trip well and is expected to begin light training soon under Baffert’s guidance.
