Stable View Oktoberfest Day 1: Caroline Pamukcu Leads CCI4*-S as Boyd Martin and Lucienne Bellissimo Follow

Day 1 of stable View Oktoberfest in Aiken, SC, unfolded under much calmer conditions than last year’s hurricane-impacted event. The competition began with dressage across multiple divisions, highlighted by Caroline Pamukcu’s strong performance in the CCI4*-S, where she held the top two spots going into cross-country. Boyd Martin, Lucienne Bellissimo, and other top riders also delivered notable rounds in dressage and show jumping, with Martin’s Cooley Nutcracker narrowly missing a perfect round due to a rail. Course designer Helen West crafted a challenging four-star track incorporating arena sections to test riders’ versatility, with many competitors viewing the event as preparation for upcoming major competitions like Maryland 5 Star and Pau in France.

The event also debuted the CCI1-S division, receiving positive feedback for its challenging course and supportive atmosphere for up-and-coming riders. Other national divisions saw strong performances, including Martin leading the Advanced division and Lucia Strini topping Intermediate after show jumping. Despite a weather hold during the CCI3-S show jumping, competition resumed with Lucienne Bellissimo maintaining her lead. Overall, the event showcased a mix of seasoned pros and rising talent navigating thoughtfully designed courses across all levels, setting the stage for an exciting cross-country day ahead.
