Local North Idaho Equestrians Shelby Roberge and Sophia Paliotto to Compete in 2025 Regional Dressage Championships

Two young North Idaho equestrians, Shelby Roberge, 14, and Sophia Paliotto, 15, longtime friends since their early 4-H days, are set to compete in the 2025 Great American Insurance Group/United States dressage Federation Regional dressage Championships in Sherwood, Oregon. Both girls have been riding since childhood and have earned their spots through qualifying scores in USDF recognized shows. Shelby will ride her off-the-track racehorse “Oliver,” while Sophia will compete with her draft paint horse, Delta Dosent Dilly Dally. This marks their second year participating in USDF programs, highlighting their dedication and skill in dressage, often described as the ballet of equestrian sports.

Beyond competition, both riders cherish the deep bonds they share with their horses and the friendships formed through the sport. They express gratitude for the support from their families, coaches, and 4-H community. To celebrate their journey and connect with the public, Shelby and Sophia will host a petting zoo at the Kootenai County Farmers’ Market, offering a chance to meet the riders and some animals. Their story exemplifies perseverance, friendship, and passion for equestrian sports, inspiring their local community as they pursue their dreams on a regional stage.
