Rescue Team Saves Fallow Deer Trapped in Netting in East Sussex

East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) rescued a fallow deer trapped in netting in a garden near Rushlake Green. The deer was unable to free itself, prompting WRAS to assemble a specialist deer disentanglement team to safely rescue the animal.

The team, led by WRAS founder Trevor Weeks MBE, acted quickly to secure the deer and expertly cut the netting free. The rescuers had to act fast as the netting was tightening around the deer’s neck, potentially causing serious injury.

Thanks to the prompt action of the WRAS team and the assistance of the woman who found the deer, the animal was successfully released back into the woods. The charity remains active throughout Christmas and the New Year, relying on donations to continue their important work in rescuing and caring for wildlife in need.
