Early Morning Horse Rescue Operation in Tarrant County Ends with Happy Ending

Law enforcement in Tarrant County conducted a rescue operation early in the morning involving a horse stuck in a cattle guard. The horse had stepped into the cattle guard and was unable to free itself, with one leg stuck and the other three tangled in the guard. Deputies sedated the horse, used tools like the Jaws of Life to free it, and then transported it to a veterinarian for treatment.

The horse only suffered minor cuts and scrapes, despite the potentially dangerous situation it was in. Deputies noted that the horse was lucky to have avoided any major injuries, especially considering it was on the side of a well-traveled road in the dark. This was the first call of its kind for the deputies, who handle animals regularly as part of their job, and they were relieved that the operation had a happy ending.

The horse’s owner has been located, and the two are expected to be reunited early the following week. While the owner will not be cited, they will be charged an impound fee. Deputies emphasized the importance of being cautious around cattle guards, especially in dark areas, to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
