Jeannette Fekkes, a longtime resident of Thousand Oaks, expresses deep concern over proposed changes to the Equestrian Park, emphasizing the park’s unique role in preserving the town’s historic “old west” character. She highlights the dangers of mixing horses with other recreational activities due to their size and temperament, and stresses the importance of maintaining the park as an exclusive equestrian space to honor local tradition and support ongoing equestrian events that attract visitors.
Fekkes suggests alternative locations for new recreational facilities, such as placing pickleball courts at Paige Lane Park and a remote control car track along Los Flores Road, to avoid disrupting the equestrian area. She urges city planners to reconsider the proposal, advocating for enhancements that support future equestrians and preserve the special lifestyle cherished by Thousand Oaks residents.
