Pirate Pete, a two-year-old Piebald cob pony, was found abandoned in Gravesend, Kent, with a severely ulcerated eye that required removal. After being taken into care by the RSPCA and receiving extensive veterinary treatment, including surgery for strangles and a throat mass, Pirate Pete was transferred to the World Horse Welfare’s Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre. Despite his injury and reduced vision, he has adapted well to life, showing remarkable progress and bravery under the care of senior groom Megan Jarvis.
At Hall Farm, Pirate Pete has successfully adjusted to living in a herd, initially introduced to a small group before joining a larger group of geldings, where he is thriving. His caregivers are optimistic about his future, describing him as a quick learner and a wonderful pony ready for rehoming when the time comes. The rescue and rehabilitation of Pirate Pete highlight the dedication of animal welfare teams and the importance of community support in providing care for neglected animals.
