A newborn foal named Biggles, found abandoned and less than 24 hours old with his umbilical cord still attached, has made a remarkable recovery thanks to the dedicated care of vets and the Here4Horses rescue charity. Severely dehydrated and unable to stand when discovered, Biggles received intensive treatment including IV fluids, antibiotics, and tube feeding at Clevedale Veterinary Practice. Volunteers, led by trustee Wendy Suddes, provided round-the-clock bottle feeding and care during his critical first 72 hours.
Thanks to the combined efforts of the veterinary team and Here4Horses volunteers, Biggles is now thriving as he approaches his first birthday. Vet Alistair Love praised Wendy’s dedication, emphasizing the team effort behind Biggles’ survival. The charity relies on public support to continue rescuing horses like Biggles, with ongoing fundraising efforts including participation in events such as the Great North Run to raise awareness and funds.
