Minnesota 4-H Honors Outstanding Volunteers Shaping Youth and Communities

In 2023, Minnesota 4-H engaged 8,600 screened adult volunteers who played a crucial role in youth development by teaching new skills and fostering leadership and community service. The University of Minnesota Extension annually honors outstanding volunteers through the Salute to Excellence awards, recognizing exemplary service and volunteerism. Notable awardees include Karen Sakry, with over 40 years of service impacting multiple generations, and Amy Kleine, praised for creating inclusive and confidence-building experiences for youth.

Additionally, the Northern Lights honors highlight volunteers who bring unique contributions to local 4-H programs, such as Christy Odden’s leadership in rabbit and shooting sports projects and RaeAnn Bartz’s long-term dedication to horse programs. These volunteers significantly enhance youth learning, resilience, and community engagement. Those interested in volunteering with 4-H are encouraged to contact local Extension offices or complete an online interest form to join this impactful community.
