King Charles III Shocked by Death of British Soldier at Royal Windsor Horse Show

King Charles III expressed that he was “shocked and saddened” upon learning of the death of a British soldier who fell after a performance by the King’s Troop, Royal Horse Artillery at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The soldier’s injuries were severe, and they died at the scene. Although the royal family members, including the King, were present during the incident, they were not immediately aware of its severity. Following the tragedy, the horse show continued without further displays by the King’s Troop, and the King met with troop members the next day to offer condolences.

Thames Valley Police described the death as “unexplained but non-suspicious” and are collaborating with the British Army, Ministry of Defence, and other agencies to investigate the circumstances. The Royal Windsor Horse Show, held on the grounds of Windsor Castle and open to the public only during this event, proceeded with appeals for information from the public. Buckingham Palace conveyed the royal family’s heartfelt sympathies to the soldier’s family and military colleagues during this difficult time.
