In Palia, players can unlock their first horse by traveling to the Royal Highlands and freeing a horse trapped in amber near Hassian in the Lonely Glen area. After gathering three Dawnspur Lilies to feed the horse, players can mount it by selecting the saddle tool in their inventory. Horses move with standard movement controls, have a stamina bar that can be replenished by riding over glowing orbs, and significantly speed up travel across the large maps.

Players can breed horses once they upgrade their ranching skill, but crossbreeding between different horse types (like Dawnspur, Phoenixfire, or Akwindu) is not possible. While all bred horses can be ridden, only standard Dawnspur horses can be ridden without a special license. Riding other horse types requires purchasing licenses with real-money Palia Coins. Progressing through Binnie’s quests in the Royal Highlands unlocks the ability to ride standard Dawnspur horses freely.
