Alyssa R. discovered two bonded Thoroughbreds, Sadie and Gracie, on myrighthorse.org, a site featuring adoptable horses from ASPCA Right Horse Partners. Although she initially planned to adopt only one horse, Alyssa felt a strong connection to both and decided to adopt them together, recognizing their bond. Sadie, a former barrel racer, and Gracie, experienced in therapeutic work, were rehabilitated by February Star Sanctuary in Maryland with ASPCA support. Despite living 600 miles away, Alyssa was able to adopt both thanks to a transport stipend, and she praises the sanctuary’s supportive adoption process.
Since bringing Sadie and Gracie home, Alyssa has focused on building their confidence and providing a spacious pasture where they can thrive. The horses have become joyful companions, each with distinct personalities but a shared playful energy, and they have integrated well into Alyssa’s household alongside her other horses and animals. Alyssa describes Sadie and Gracie as her “right horses,” perfectly fitting her life and bringing daily joy, highlighting the meaningful impact of adopting bonded horses through programs like ASPCA Right Horse.
