From Cattle Farm to Olympic Equestrian Host: Drynan’s Journey in Sport and Communications

Growing up on a cattle farm with a deep passion for equestrian sports, Drynan has seamlessly blended her love for horses with her academic pursuits at Bond University. Known as “the horse girl of Bond,” she balanced her equestrian interests with her studies, eventually securing an internship with Equestrian Queensland. There, she contributed to projects supporting Brisbane 2032, focusing on logistics, legacy planning, and sport diplomacy, particularly highlighting the significance of Toowoomba as the Olympic equestrian venue. Her work also emphasized sustainability, welfare, and pathways for off-the-track thoroughbreds, inspired by her own horse, Ernest Desire.

Drynan leveraged communications to celebrate and support Queensland’s equestrian community by launching Beyond the Bridle, a publication spotlighting riders from grassroots to elite levels. Her experience expanded internationally when she attended the prestigious Badminton event in Europe, gaining insights into global equestrian marketing and storytelling. With renewed inspiration from Bond University, she plans to return to competitive showjumping, continue her publication, and contribute to the ongoing preparations for Brisbane 2032, empowered by a broadened vision of what is possible.
