Two horses belonging to a recently jailed horse trader have died after being found in a flooded field, severely starved and emaciated, according to the Andalucian Rescue Centre for Horses (ARCH). Despite efforts by volunteers and vets, one horse was euthanized due to weakness, and another has since passed away. The trader, who had a history of animal neglect spanning years and had previously evaded prison by transferring animals to others, was sentenced to three years in jail following a combined effort by local authorities and animal rights groups.
ARCH continues to care for other rescued animals from the same dealer, though many remain in poor condition and require long-term rehabilitation. The charity, recently recognized as a Utilidad Publica by the Junta, faces ongoing financial challenges as it relies solely on donations to cover costly veterinary care and feeding. Local authorities have pledged to act firmly against animal neglect, urging the public to report abuse, while ARCH appeals for support to sustain their rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
