Somerset County Offers Summer Camps for Kids and Teens Featuring Nature, Horseback Riding, and Therapeutic Activities

Somerset County Park Commission is offering diverse summer camp programs for children and teens aged 6 to 18 at three locations: the Environmental Education Center and the stable at Lord Stirling Park in Basking Ridge, and the Therapeutic Recreation Program at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. Camps at the stable focus on horseback riding and horse care with age-specific sessions running from July 6 to August 14. The Environmental Education Center offers a nine-day ecology and conservation program called AWESWIM Teens for ages 13 to 16 from June 22 to July 2, emphasizing environmental stewardship through outdoor activities in the Great Swamp.

At North Branch Park, Camp Curiosity runs from June 22 to 26 for children ages 8 to 13 with learning disabilities, high-functioning Autism, or mild intellectual disabilities. This therapeutic camp uses space-themed activities to promote social skills, confidence, and positive peer relationships. Overall, the camps provide opportunities for hiking, nature exploration, horseback riding, and therapeutic recreation tailored to various interests and needs.
