Rescued Hearts Documentary Explores Healing Connections Between Humans and Horses

Krisanna Sexton’s documentary “Rescued Hearts” explores the profound connection between humans and horses, focusing on the power of presence, heart coherence, and authentic healing rather than traditional equine therapy. Inspired by a child with autism who spoke his first words through interaction with a horse, the film was co-created with producer Dana Croschere, whose long-term involvement in equine therapeutic programs and interest in the science behind the horse-human bond shaped the project. Over two and a half years, Sexton and Croschere captured more than 200 hours of footage, emphasizing genuine storytelling and honoring the natural unfolding of each participant’s experience.

The film will be screened on May 21 at Park City Library, accompanied by a panel discussion featuring local equine therapy advocates and experts. Supported by organizations like Liberty Sanctuary and The Equellness Center, the screening aims to raise awareness about the transformative impact of horses on healing and personal growth within the community. Sexton views the film as part of her own healing journey and highlights how horses bring diverse people together, fostering connection and love beyond societal divisions.
