Preakness Stakes Moves to Laurel Park for First Time Since 1908: Start Time and Viewing Info

The 151st Preakness Stakes, the second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Laurel Park in Maryland for the first time since 1908, as Pimlico Race Course undergoes a $400 million renovation. The race, which is 1 3/16 miles long and the shortest in the Triple Crown series, will feature 14 horses, though Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo is not expected to compete, eliminating the possibility of a Triple Crown winner this year.

The event’s post time is set for 6:50 p.m. ET, with coverage starting earlier at 1 p.m. ET on Peacock, which will also stream the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on Friday. The Preakness Stakes will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock, featuring comprehensive coverage including races, interviews, and analysis by a team of hosts, analysts, and reporters, with Larry Collmus calling the races.
