The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, running from May 5-10 and May 12-17, bring together amateur and professional riders of all ages for a series of hunter and jumper competitions featuring international equestrians such as six-time Olympian McLain Ward, Katie Dinan, Rodrigo Pessoa, Daniel Bluman, Beat Mändi, and Nayel Nasser. The event offers more than just equestrian sport, with family-friendly activities including face painting, pony rides, arts and crafts, dog adoptions, and ice cream parties scheduled throughout the weekends.
In addition to the competitions, highlighted by the $125,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix on May 10 and the $225,000 Empire State Grand Prix on May 17 (where defending champion McLain Ward will compete), the event also features equine-inspired art by sculptor Precious Eboigbodin and photographer Drew Doggett. Proceeds from Doggett’s art sales will support the New Canaan Mounted Troop, blending sport, culture, and community engagement in the scenic setting of North Salem.
