The Oakdale Saddle Club Grounds hosted its 72nd annual rodeo last weekend, drawing crowds with classic Western events like bull riding and horse riding. The event, held every second weekend of April, is a deeply rooted tradition in Oakdale, known as the Cowboy Capital of the World. It attracts a diverse audience, including local community members, college students like Fresno State’s Savannah Sahagun, and even international visitors. The rodeo featured top bull riders such as Dawson Branton and Kyle Eaton, and showcased patriotic moments like a horse rider carrying the American flag during the national anthem.
Attendees praised the event for its lively atmosphere and strong sense of community. Longtime visitor Devin Harwell highlighted the patriotic spirit, while first-timer Estefany Esquivel appreciated the welcoming environment and plans to return in future years. Overall, the Oakdale rodeo continues to be a celebrated cultural event that honors Western heritage and brings people together from across the country.
