New Bridleway Opens in Botley: Enhancing Equestrian Safety and Access

A new bridleway has opened in Botley, running between Woodhouse Lane and Maunsell Way. This path was created through a joint effort by the British Horse Society and Hampshire County Council, allowing horse riders to avoid the recently built Deer Park School as part of the Uplands Development.

The bridleway diversion between Woodhouse Lane and Maunsell Way is accessed via Holmesland Lane and is part of Bridleway 6c connecting Botley and Hedge End. This route is part of the UK’s bridleway network, providing a safe alternative for equestrians and cyclists to avoid busy or dangerous roads.

The British Horse Society has over 300 local volunteer access and bridleway officers dedicated to enhancing and maintaining the equestrian access network in the UK. Their goal is to improve safety on the road and protect, maintain, and enhance off-road access for equestrians across the country. The new bridleway in Botley is a step towards ensuring the safety of all equestrians when riding out.
