National horse-riding competitions have begun in Herat province, drawing athletes from 14 provinces along with government officials, diplomats, and local residents. Organizers emphasize the event’s role in promoting sports, fostering youth unity, and showcasing Afghanistan’s athletic potential. Officials highlighted Herat’s capability to host major national sporting events and pledged ongoing support for expanding sports activities nationwide.
The competition, organized by the National Equestrian Federation in partnership with Herat’s sports departments, aims to be fair and well-managed over its eight-day duration. Participants welcomed the rotation of venues, noting it encourages interaction and understanding among athletes and communities from diverse provinces and ethnic backgrounds.
