Horse Rescued from Basement of Abandoned Grain Silo in Yolo County, California

A horse named Matsie was rescued from an abandoned grain silo in Yolo County, California after falling through a hole just 22 inches wide. The Sonoma Valley Animal Emergency Response Team, along with other agencies, worked together to hoist Matsie back up through the narrow opening using a specialized animal tripod and harness.

Photos from the rescue show Matsie in the dark basement with a low ceiling, but she was successfully rescued and is now able to play with her friends again. The Yolo County Animal Services Shelter also assisted in the rescue and expressed gratitude for the teamwork involved in the successful operation.

The Sonoma Valley Animal Emergency Response Team and Yolo County Animal Services Shelter both shared updates on the rescue on Facebook, with the latter stating, “Teamwork makes the dream work! Thank you so much to every org involved with this incredible rescue.” Matsie is now safe and back with her friends after the harrowing ordeal.
