The Oregon Ag Fest, held April 25-26, 2026, at the state fairgrounds in Salem, drew large family crowds to celebrate the state’s agricultural heritage. Attendees enjoyed hands-on activities such as petting baby animals, riding tractors, and digging for potatoes. Children received free tomato and Douglas fir seedlings, participated in agriculture-themed crafts, and witnessed demonstrations like sheep shearing by expert Rick Martin. The event also featured livestock shows, including a dairy competition, and showcased the skills of a border collie herding sheep.
The festival provided a lively, educational experience connecting the community with Oregon’s farming and forestry industries. Visitors interacted with draft horses, llamas, and Icelandic horses, while local groups like the Amity FFA and Oregon State University Women in Timber Club distributed tree seedlings. The presence of Oregon Dairy princesses and entertainers like The Zaniac added to the festive atmosphere, making the Ag Fest a beloved annual tradition highlighting the importance of agriculture in the region.
