Devil Night, the 2025 Blue Diamond winner, has been retired after sustaining a hoof injury. The three-year-old colt, who earned over $1.7 million from nine starts, was initially set to compete in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 but was withdrawn due to the injury. Devil Night will now stand at stud at Yulong Investments’ new Segenhoe Stud in the Hunter Valley for the 2026 breeding season.
Before retirement, there was some uncertainty as co-trainer Michael Hawkes expressed confidence in Devil Night’s form and potential to win the Doomben 10,000, describing the race as highly competitive with multiple contenders. If the colt had performed well, he might have continued racing in Queensland, but a poor showing would confirm his retirement with just one Group 1 victory to his name.
