Cristian Torres Gets First Kentucky Derby Ride After Right to Party Scratched

Cristian Torres will get his first opportunity to ride in the Kentucky Derby after Right to Party, trained by Kenny McPeek, was scratched from the race. Torres had initially lost his chance when Silent Tactic was withdrawn earlier in the week due to a foot injury, a decision made by trainer Mark Casse in the horse’s best interest despite feeling sympathy for Torres.

With Right to Party out, Doug O’Neill’s Robusta has been added to the Derby field, allowing Torres to participate. This change comes as a significant development for Torres, who had appeared to be sidelined but now has a renewed chance to compete in the prestigious event.
