Champion Queensland stallion Spirit Of Boom, a son of Sequalo and a four-time champion Queensland sire, has died unexpectedly at 18 due to a suspected ruptured bowel. Bred and standing at Eureka Stud, Spirit Of Boom was a durable and competitive racehorse who won nine races, including two Group 1s—the 2014 William Reid Stakes and Doomben Ten Thousand—and earned over AU$2.4 million. As a sire, he produced 32 individual stakes winners, including Group 1 winner Jonker, who will return to Eureka Stud to continue his legacy.
Eureka Stud and trainer Tony Gollan mourned the loss of Spirit Of Boom, highlighting his significant impact on Queensland breeding and racing. Known for his longevity, toughness, and personality, Spirit Of Boom helped elevate the profile of Queensland bloodstock nationally. His legacy will endure through his progeny both on the track and at stud, ensuring his influence remains strong in the industry.
