A commercial bin was stolen for the second time from Eastern Ventilation & ENG LTD in Bradford, prompting director Asim Ali to enhance security measures. The bin was taken from the company’s premises on Garnett Street, Barkerend, and later found filled with someone else’s rubbish near Otley Road. Previously, in 2022, the company had even repurchased its stolen bin after spotting it on a horse and cart outside their headquarters. After unsuccessful attempts to trace the thief, Ali decided to install a tracker and secure the bin with a chain and padlock to prevent future thefts.
Bradford Council responded by noting that trade waste bins come with stickers displaying business details and RFID tags containing customer information, advising businesses to secure their bins properly. They also suggested the theft should have been reported to the police. Ali highlighted the broader issue of trust and recommended permanent markings on bins to make them unusable if stolen, reflecting concerns about unattended property in today’s environment.
