A badger was rescued by New Arc Wildlife Rescue after becoming entangled in goal netting at Monquhitter School in Aberdeenshire. Despite likely being trapped over the weekend, the badger remained “very feisty” and was safely freed before being taken to a vet, where it is now recovering well.
The charity emphasized the dangers of unattended sports netting to wildlife and urged people to take nets down when not in use. Animal welfare groups advise that trapped animals can be frightened and defensive, so only experienced rescuers with proper equipment should attempt a rescue. The Scottish SPCA also encourages the public to contact their hotline if they find injured badgers.
