Avery Wright of Tyrone achieved national acclaim by winning Champion in her class at the 2026 Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) National Finals held on April 25 at the National Equestrian Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Competing in the highly competitive Future Beginner Walk, Trot and Canter dressage Seat Equitation division, Wright was among only 12 riders nationwide who qualified by placing in the top two at their regional competitions. Her qualification came after earning Reserve Champion at regionals at Delaware Valley University earlier in the year.
In the IEA competition, riders are randomly assigned horses shortly before their performance, and Wright demonstrated exceptional adaptability and skill by riding a horse named Regal from Ohio with just 10 minutes to prepare. Judged on precision, control, and form, Wright’s performance showcased her balanced and harmonious riding ability, securing her position as a top competitor among the nation’s elite equestrians.
