Just under four months after a section of White Horse Black Mountain collapsed during renovations, the nonprofit music venue in Black Mountain, N.C., has reopened with a full slate of events. The collapse on January 21, 2026, forced the venue to close temporarily, but community partners like The Monte Vista Hotel provided a temporary space that allowed White Horse to continue hosting shows and supporting artists. The venue’s director of marketing, Judi Melton, highlighted the importance of maintaining programming and employment during the closure.
Looking ahead, White Horse plans to expand its outdoor space by adding a patio and deck that will double its capacity to around 400 guests, featuring mountain views and year-round outdoor seating with heating. The venue continues to offer a diverse range of music, primarily bluegrass, blues, Americana, and folk, with an emphasis on introducing new genres to the community. Tickets remain on a donate-what-you-can basis, ensuring accessibility for all. For a full event schedule, visitors can check the venue’s website.
