Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue: A Beacon of Hope for Horses in Need

Amanda Hanson founded Tehachapi Valley Horse Rescue five years ago to help horses in need in Bear Valley Springs and Kern County. The ranch provides care for senior horses and those with unique medical needs, with a focus on helping elderly horse owners who may struggle to care for their animals. Amanda secured a grant from Kern Community Foundation to provide hay for horses affected by the Borel fires in the Kern River Valley.

The ranch is a peaceful setting for rescued horses, with a team of volunteers helping to care for the animals. Amanda and her team work to provide unique medical care for each horse, with a focus on senior horses that may have been neglected or abandoned. The rescue also operates a store called Tack of the Town to help sustain the ranch and provide necessary supplies for the community.

Volunteers, including the Tehachapi High School boys soccer team, help with cleaning and maintenance around the ranch. The rescue has made a positive impact in the community, providing hay for horses affected by fires and offering a much-needed tack store in the area. Amanda’s dedication to helping horses in need has made a significant difference in the lives of both the animals and their owners.
