Suspect Cole Allen from Torrance in Custody After White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting Incident

Cole Allen, a 31-year-old from Torrance, California, was arrested after charging a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons and firing at a Secret Service agent during the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. The incident caused chaos inside the Washington Hilton ballroom, prompting law enforcement to subdue Allen and evacuate attendees, including President Donald Trump and other dignitaries. The agent who was shot was protected by a vest and is reported to be in good spirits. Allen, a mechanical engineer turned tutor, has an unclear motive, and authorities are investigating his devices and movements prior to the attack.

Following the shooting, FBI agents conducted a large-scale operation at Allen’s Torrance home, engaging with occupants and eventually entering the residence late at night. Torrance officials emphasized that Allen’s actions do not represent the community. The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was postponed, with plans to reschedule within 30 days. President Trump praised the quick response of the Secret Service and law enforcement, underscoring the importance of not letting such violent acts disrupt democratic traditions and freedoms.
