The 2026 Steel Horse Rally kicked off in downtown Fort Smith, with motorcycles filling Garrison Avenue, which was closed to all but motorcycle traffic. The annual event honors military members, veterans, law enforcement, and first responders while raising funds for local charities supporting veterans and children. Longtime attendee and veteran Greg May described the rally as a meaningful, family-friendly tradition that celebrates service and freedom. First-time participant Kaylie O’Keefe highlighted the rally’s role in uniting the community.
The rally also significantly benefits the local economy, with the 2023 event attracting a record 210,000 attendees and generating $24 million in economic impact. Many visitors, like O’Keefe and her family, plan their visits around the rally, which continues through Saturday night, fostering both celebration and community spirit in Fort Smith.
