South Carolina and Lynchburg Capture 2026 NCEA National Equestrian Titles

South Carolina’s equestrian team captured the 2026 National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) dual discipline national championship in a thrilling final against Texas A&M. After a strong start led by their Western riders, the Gamecocks faced a fierce comeback from the Aggies, resulting in a 10-10 tie in wins. South Carolina ultimately secured the title by a significant raw score margin of 1696.08 to 1473, marking their first national championship since 2015. Senior Natalie Jayne was named Most Outstanding Performer on the flat, and second-year head coach Carol Gwin achieved a historic milestone by winning national titles at two different institutions.

Meanwhile, Lynchburg re-established its equestrian dynasty by winning its fourth NCEA single discipline national title in five years with a 6-3 victory over the College of Charleston. Despite having a largely new team with only two returning starters, Lynchburg displayed confidence and composure to overcome the pressure. Senior Abigail Zemp earned Most Outstanding Performer on the flat, highlighting the team’s trust and belief in each other as key factors in their success. Both programs demonstrated resilience and excellence, solidifying their places at the top of collegiate equestrian competition.
