Born in Fletcher, Ohio, she moved to Kentucky in the 1970s and worked for The Thoroughbred Record magazine before joining Claiborne Farm and later Gainesway Farm.

Throughout her career, Covault worked with legendary breeders and top stallions, developing strong relationships with owners and breeders. She was praised for her diplomatic tact and sense of humor, which made her a cherished friend and trusted professional in the industry.
