Pirate Pete the Pony Thrives After Eye Removal and Rescue in Kent

Pirate Pete, a piebald cob pony found fly-grazing in Gravesend, Kent, last winter with a severely ulcerated eye, was rescued through a joint effort by the RSPCA and World Horse Welfare. Due to the delay in treatment, his damaged eye had to be surgically removed at Lingfield Equine Vets. Alongside eye surgery, Pirate Pete received extensive veterinary care for other health issues, including strangles and chondroid removal.

Now thriving at World Horse Welfare’s Hall Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Norfolk, Pirate Pete has adapted well to life with one eye, thanks to the dedicated care of senior groom Megan Jarvis. Although no owner came forward, leaving him abandoned, Pirate Pete has a secure future and is currently awaiting rehoming.
