The Land of Little Horses, a beloved children’s farm and performing animal park in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is closing after 54 years of operation. The park, known for its miniature horses, ponies, and other farm animals, is auctioning off its animals—including 35 miniature horses, two mini donkeys, and several ponies and mature horses—after no buyer was found to continue the business. The auction, scheduled for February 28, also includes park equipment and memorabilia.
To ensure the animals find safe and loving homes, Fox Lea Mini Horse Rescue, a Maryland-based nonprofit, is stepping in to take in any miniature horses not sold at auction. The rescue is particularly concerned about older or special-needs animals and bonded pairs, aiming to prevent them from cycling through multiple auctions. Fox Lea is fundraising to support the care of these vulnerable animals, with the hope that each one will end up in a prepared and loving family.
