Troy Roberto, a 55-year-old horseback riding coach from Hewitt, New Jersey, has been arrested for sexually assaulting his 16-year-old student. An investigation launched in March 2026 revealed that Roberto had sexually assaulted the minor multiple times in December 2025 and exchanged sexually explicit photos with the victim.

In addition to the sexual assault charges, Roberto faces drug and ammunition-related charges after police found him in possession of unprescribed Alprazolam pills and 36 rounds of ammunition during his arrest. He is charged with multiple counts including sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of child sexual abuse materials, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
