Multiple Horse Deaths Reported at Keeneland During 2026 Spring Meet

During the 2026 Spring Meet at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, three horses have died following racing incidents, raising concerns about safety at the track. Most recently, 2-year-old Sing for Mo Money suffered fatal injuries during the second race on April 16 after being bumped and pulled up in the stretch; despite immediate medical attention and transport to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, humane euthanasia was recommended. This marked the second death in as many days, following the April 15 death of 2-year-old filly Autism Honor G, who sustained a knee fracture and was also euthanized after being pulled up in a similar race.

These fatalities add to the death of High Go on April 8, bringing the total to three horse deaths during the current meet, with six racing days remaining. Last year, Keeneland reported at least five horse deaths across its Spring and Fall Meets. The incidents have spotlighted ongoing concerns about equine safety during races at Keeneland, especially involving young horses competing in maiden special weight races on fast surfaces.
