Mounties in Squamish, B.C. have recovered BC Parks and search-and-rescue equipment that was stolen this fall, with a report of a BC Parks storage unit being broken into on Oct. 18 and items stolen. A theft from a vehicle in Whistler, B.C. on Nov. 21 also occurred, with the total value of stolen items in both incidents exceeding $20,000.
Police in Squamish Valley area saw some of the stolen gear while attending an unrelated call, leading to a search warrant being conducted on Nov. 29 where some of the stolen search-and-rescue gear and other valuables were recovered. The Sea to Sky RCMP are reminding the public to contact police immediately after a theft occurs.
