Missouri Military Academy Raises $57,427 to Unlock $250,000 Investment in Equestrian Program

Supporters of the Missouri Military Academy (MMA) have surpassed the Gentry Equestrian Challenge by raising $57,427, unlocking a total investment of $250,000 to enhance the Academy’s equestrian facilities and programming. Led by alumnus Chris Gentry ’88, who pledged $200,000 contingent on community fundraising, the funds will be used to build an upgraded riding arena and expand cadet access to hands-on equestrian training, with construction set to begin this summer. This initiative aims to strengthen MMA’s equestrian program, fostering leadership skills, responsibility, and empathy among cadets through horse care and training.

The campaign also supports the launch of MMA’s equine-assisted therapy program, designed to help cadets build emotional resilience, coordination, and confidence while connecting with the broader community. Academy President Brigadier General Richard V. Geraci emphasized that these developments align with MMA’s mission to cultivate self-confidence, personal responsibility, and leadership in cadets. Gentry’s ongoing commitment to MMA is further demonstrated by his previous $40,000 gift in 2021 to improve the Academy’s baseball facilities.
