The Michigan Horse Racing Advisory Commission (HRAC) has awarded a total of $125,000 in 2026 Equine Grants to six projects aimed primarily at track maintenance and supporting horse racing activities. Recipients include the Huron County Fair Association, Michigan Harness Horseman’s Association, St. Joseph County Grange Fair, and Tuscola County Fair Association, with funds allocated for track upkeep, livestreaming race events, and purchasing equipment to enhance race operations.
Established under the Horse Racing Law of 1995, the Equine Grant Program supports horse racing promotion, equine research, aftercare, and related programs. Eligible applicants must have operated for at least two years, be in good standing with the state, and provide financial statements. Grant applications undergo a competitive review process by a joint committee, with final decisions made by the HRAC, which operates under the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
