Horse Rescue Operator Faces 13 Animal Welfare Charges After Horses Seized in Oro-Medonte

Stephanie Redlick, operator of Above The Stars Equine Rescue, faces 13 charges under the Provincial Animal Welfare Services Act related to alleged neglect and mistreatment of horses. Following an investigation and a February 6 inspection by Animal Welfare Services (AWS), 16 horses were seized from Redlick’s properties due to poor conditions including malnourishment, untreated medical issues, and inadequate care. One horse, a thoroughbred mare named Midnight, was euthanized after suffering severe health problems.

Additionally, Redlick had solicited donations by claiming Above The Stars was a registered charity, but Canadian authorities confirmed it is not registered with the Canada Revenue Agency or other relevant bodies. While the rescue’s website has since removed charity claims, the legal proceedings against Redlick are ongoing, and she remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
