Hidden Hollow Farm, located near Benton in Columbia County, is celebrating 55 years of offering horseback riding lessons. Owned and operated by 82-year-old Paula Hosking, who has been passionate about horses since childhood, the farm provides riding lessons, boarding, horse and rider evaluations, and horse camps. Hosking emphasizes the importance of patience, perseverance, and praise in her teaching philosophy, and she finds joy in witnessing the progress of both her students and the horses, many of which are rescues that improve significantly under her care.
Despite personal losses, including the passing of her husband and son, Hosking has continued to run the farm as a business, driven by her love for teaching. She welcomes riders of all ages and remains dedicated to her work, stating she has no plans to retire as long as she has support from her team. Hidden Hollow Farm remains a cherished local institution, fostering a lifelong connection between people and horses.
