Firefighters Use Turntable Ladder and Cat Treats to Rescue Stranded Cat from Swansea Rooftop

Firefighters from Morriston Fire Station were called to rescue a cat stranded on the roof of a three-storey building in Brynmill Crescent, Swansea. Despite closer fire stations nearby, Morriston’s specialist turntable ladder appliance was deployed, arriving with cat treats to coax the feline down. The cat was safely retrieved within an hour, much to the relief of its owner and onlookers.

This rescue highlighted the versatility of Morriston’s turntable ladder, one of the few in the region, relocated there in 2021 to enhance aerial rescue capabilities. While typically used for high-rise emergencies, the equipment proved invaluable for this lighthearted mission, sparking amusement on social media and showcasing firefighters’ readiness for all kinds of rescues.
